The meeting [with Karen] was one of the most encouraging moments of my life. It gave me hope. I started feeling the pressure [of an abortion] less and less, because I started feeling like I’m part of a family.

Leah had goals and plans, and her life was going well. She was finishing her university degree, serving in church, and was looking forward to forming a home with her partner. But one day, Leah had a feeling that she was pregnant – it was like a voice in her head that she couldn’t avoid – so she took a pregnancy test, and the result was positive.

Fear. Embarrassment. Shame. Judgement. These emotions and thoughts consumed her. Leah started crying. She felt very alone. She already struggled with mental health challenges, and this unexpected pregnancy took her to the edge. As a single Christian woman who desired to live her life according to the Bible, she was ashamed to be pregnant outside of marriage. She didn’t want to tell her mother or people at church about her pregnancy. She felt like she had no one to turn to.

Leah sought for help at multiple hospitals. In these appointments, she felt pressure to abort. She felt she had no options and was tempted to end her life. But then a voice of hope came into her mind saying, “Look for a pregnancy care centre.”

Leah found PCC Toronto online and booked an appointment at our North York office. She met with Karen, a PCC Toronto staff, who provided her with pregnancy options, compassionate support, and assured Leah that abortion was not her only option. She was not alone.

t took time for Leah to fully accept her pregnancy, but over time she started praying more and focusing on the Lord, seeing this pregnancy as a blessing and that her unborn child would change her life for the better.

PCC Toronto connected Leah with other volunteers who visited her at home and invited her to church. Morningstar Fellowship Church has become her new church home, where she experiences the love of her family in Christ.

“The birth of my son, Eli, has changed me a lot. He is a gift that was waiting for me. If he hadn’t come, I don’t know what would have happened. But I’m the happiest person right now.”

Leah was recently baptized, making a public declaration of turning away from sin and trusting in Christ alone. Her baby Eli was dedicated to the Lord on Mother’s Day! Thanks to your support, Leah and Eli are now thriving as a family!
