PCC Relay 2020
May 9, 2020 @ 9:30 am - 1:00 pm
The First Response Relay is happening on Saturday May 9th, 2020 (Mother’s Day Weekend) at 9:30am at The People’s Church Toronto. Sign-up, set a fundraising goal, collect pledges, and walk 5km in support of the Pregnancy Care Centre. This peer-to-peer fundraiser supports women and men making life-changing pregnancy decisions in our city!
There will be a catered BBQ, sponsored prizes, fun and games for children, and a chance to be entered into our Grand Prize draw. Bring your friends, family and churches out to support those in our city needing support. We don’t want anyone to feel that abortion is their only option. Theme: Blast from the Past! Come dressed in attire from your favourite decade or wear one of PCC’s Past Relay T-shirts!
Minimum $50 fundraise required to participate, receive lunch and to be eligible for sponsored prizes! Kids 12 and under are free- but still need to be registered.
It takes $500 to see one woman through a year of pregnancy. Our PCC Relay goal of $75,000 represents the support needed for
150 women and their families.
Not fundraising online? You still need to register online here and use the pledge form below to gather sponsors from
friends and family to help you reach your goal!
Let’s walk together to provide hope to families and reaffirm the value of human life!
Where is the Relay? The Relay begins at The People’s Church at 374 Sheppard Avenue, Toronto. We will be waking in the neighbourhood behind the church (Bayview and Sheppard area) with a few checkpoints along the 5KM route.
Why is it called a Relay? Relays require individuals working together. How beautiful it is when Christians unite to support women who are alone and pregnant. Let’s be the hands and feet of Christ. Let’s walk together and show them we care!
Is it better to register as a team or on my own? As a team, you can collectively work towards a goal. Many churches will register as teams for a bit of friendly competition. You don’t have to be part of a team to participate. There will be plenty of people of all ages for you to walk with and meet.
Is there parking available? Yes. The east end of the church parking lot will be reserved for parking. For TTC commuters, the closest subway station is Bayview Station.
Can I bring my children? Absolutely! This isn’t a race, so the Relay is stroller and kid friendly. Kids 12 and under eat free! (Dress them up in their (or your) favourite decade for them to win a prize)
What happens if it rains? The Relay will be taking place rain or shine! We will be able to eat indoors in the case of rain.
Do you need volunteers for the day? Yes! Contact us for more information.
How do I add cash or cheque donations to my Online Fundraising Page? Team Captains can add offline donations to their team’s online fundraising page. Have your team captain log into their CanadaHelps account and navigate to the team’s fundraising page. Click edit to view the managing controls of the team page. Under the Donations tab, at the bottom right hand corner, there is an offline donation button. Input the details of the cash/cheque donation and click save! The next time you view your team’s page, this amount will be included in the fundraising thermometer. Please do not deposit cash or cheque donations to your personal accounts and proceed to make a donation from your name online as this triggers a receipt to be made out to you instead of your sponsor. Offline donations are sent receipts for all of 2020 in February 2021 via mail. Please make note of offline sponsors’ addresses so that a receipt can be mailed to them.
Will the people who make a donation to support my goal receive a receipt? Yes, all donations of $20 or more are eligible for a tax receipt. Please do not deposit cash or cheque donations to your personal accounts and proceed to make a donation from your name online as this triggers a receipt to be made out to you instead of your sponsor.
Do I need to register online if I’m only collecting cash or cheque sponsors? Yes! Registering online ensures that we can order enough food for everyone who plans to come. Please register before May 1st online or by calling 416-229-2607.
